Rangers scalp would fire Pars' survival bid
THE PARS are hoping the biggest scalp of all against a crisis-hit Rangers will confirm that elusive first win and fuel their survival bid.
Jim McIntyre's men have a dismal record at East End Park this season - no wins in any competitions - but sense the tide could be turning.
Gers are out of the Scottish Cup and continue to attract doom-laden headlines with troubles on and off the pitch.
A defeat on Saturday against a team they beat comfortably 4-0 on their last visit would represent meltdown for the Ibrox hordes, a scenario Athletic hope to take full advantage of.
To do so they'll have to build on Tuesday's draw at Killie - the point picked up means they now share bottom spot in the SPL with Hibs.
A home win in front of the TV cameras could propel them above the Edinburgh side and McIntyre said, "I think it's important to see us on the same points as another team rather than being stuck at the bottom.
"What we have to do now is take that result and build on it against Rangers."
He continued, "The bottom line is we wanted to win the game and get above Hibs, we've not done that but we've picked up a point and stopped the rot after two defeats.
"There's a lot of football still to be played and we'll have a go on Saturday."
Iain Turner is a doubt for the match after suffering a back injury while Kyle Hutton will be prevented from playing against the club he's on loan from.
Skipper Austin McCann comes back into contention after a hamstring problem.
Home tickets only will be sold on Saturday morning until 10am.
Pars fans are asked to purchase their tickets as early as possible and on the day of the game they will be asked for proof of address.
This is due to police restrictions.
