Pile pressure on Hibees Macca tells Pars
PARS gaffer Jim McIntyre urged his team to pile the pressure on Hibs by leaping over them in the league with victory over Killie.
Dunfermline face Kilmarnock at East End Park knowing victory would see them overhaul the Easter Road outfit.
The club were left furious in December when the original fixture was called off by ref Bobby Madden less than 90 minutes before kick-off due to fog.
Pars chairman John Yorkston estimated the decision cost the club up to £50,000, with a rearranged midweek evening fixture unlikely to recoup such losses.
For McIntyre and his troops though the match is all about getting the three points.
He said, "It is a good chance to get off the bottom of the league. We need to work extremely hard to get three points but we know that we're more than capable.
"It would be a psychological boost to get off the bottom of the league and obviously we want to get the monkey off our back by winning at home for the first time too."
Kilmarnock will bring back good memories for the squad who turned in their best performance of the season in winning 3-0 at Rugby Park two weeks ago.
"We had a really good performance against them not that long ago but it's important for us to remember that no two games are the same," warned McIntyre.
"We want to put pressure on Hibs and we want to do what Aberdeen have done of late and put a wee run together.
"That's what we feel we're capable of but we know we need to up the consistency levels. That's been the problem.
"It was disappointing after the Killie game not to push on and go on a run but we have the chance to do that again."
McIntyre expects to have Paul Burns fully fit for Tuesday while he will monitor Austin McCann's progress in a bounce match today (Friday).
