Window of opportunity for lovestruck West Fife couples
A LEAP year is traditionally the time when women can pop the question and one has done just that - in a Dunfermline High Street window!
One lucky West Fifer is guaranteed to find love in 2012, as a proposal, written on a British Heart Foundation (BHF) heart-shaped 'Love Note', has been stuck up in the charity shop's window.
The message reads, "Ronnie Findlay, it's a leap year, marry me? Lots of love, Mrs Wriggly xxx".
However, mystery surrounds the pair of lovers, as shop staff do not know the identity of the note's author.
BHS shop manager Maureen Watson smiled, "It's quite romantic. It happened quite early on in the 'Love Notes' campaign as well.
"We only started it at the end of January so it must have been a spur-of-the-moment thing.
"We often get people coming into the shop who see that and decide to write something on the spur of the moment.
"We've got more humorous notes than lovey-dovey ones and it would be quite nice to know if that person actually accepted!"
And other West Fife lonely hearts might find love in the window too, as other messages include, "To Biff, you cheeky monkey, you make me nuts, from Gillian" and "Yo gorgeous Eileigh, you're the best and I love you loads, from your secret admirer".
The 'Love Notes' fund-raising campaign offers everyone the chance to declare their love by writing a note to display in the window for a suggested donation of £1.
Running until 14th February as part of National Heart Month, it hopes to raise £530,000 and get people thinking about their hearts. There are also corporate 'Love Notes' for businesses to show their support.
And for ladies planning to propose, the BHF and commercial property firm Land Securities are offering them the chance to do it in style - by using the Piccadilly Lights in London on 29th February.
Just email a picture of yourself and your partner with 200 words on why they are the love of your life to proposal@bhf.org.uk. The winner will be selected on Valentine's Day. For more information, log on to bhf.org.uk/lovenotes.
